                   FIRST ASTRONAUTS

 1. YURI GAGARIN 
Yuri Alrkseyevich GAGARIN was a Soviet pilot and cosmonaut. He became the first human to journey into outer space when his Vostok spacecraft completed one orbit of the earth on 1 of the earth on 12 April 1961.

 2. NEIL ARMSTRONG
Neil Alden Armstrong (August 5, 1930 - August 25, 2012) was an American astronaut and aeronautical engineer who was the first person to walk on the Moon. He was also a naval aviator, test pilot and university professor.
3. SUNITA WILLIAMS
The woman who holds the record for the longest single space flight (195 days) is SUNITA WILLIAMS'. She also holds the record of seven spacewalks which total up to 50 hours and 40 minutes. She holds the 5th rank when it comes to experienced space walkers.

 4. RAKESH SHARMA
Rakesh Sharma was the first Indian to travel to space. He was born on 13th January 1949 in Patiala.On 20th September 1982 he was selected by the Indian Space and Research Organization (ISRO) to become a cosmonaut. After his return from Space, he was given the "HONOUR OF HERO OF SOVEIT UNION." The Indian government awarded him with an Ashoka Chakra.

 5. KALPANA CHAWLA
Kalpana Chawla was the first Indian woman in space and also the first Indian American astronaut. She was born in Karnal, India, in 1962.

The Earth is the third planet from the Sun in the Solar - system.
